Rachel Padley left Ledbury Grammar School in 1976, after which she worked as a stone carver at St. Paul's Cathedral, London. She studied art at Kennington School of Art 1977-81 gaining a Diploma in Sculpture. She did not experience pottery until the last of her five children started school in 1997; when she joined a class at Malvern College. Most of her work is either thrown on the wheel or slab built. She works in both earthenware and stoneware clays and use a wide range of colourful glazes. She has a small studio at home from which work can be purchased, by appointment only. Rachel's work is also available from China Set in Ledbury and Malvern Hills Gallery. She also exhibits widely with the Guild.
